It’s time to get out there, set sail on some new adventures and enjoy that beautiful boat life! We’ve got a list of five great spots to go boating in Sydney. Jump aboard your sailboat, powerboat or catamaran and get exploring!

Garden with the view of sea with boats and buildings

Wendy’s Secret Garden

Tucked behind Luna Park in Sydney’s stunning Lavender Bay is one of the city’s hidden gems – Wendy’s Secret Garden. Artist Wendy Whiteley opened this park as a tribute to her late artist husband, Brett Whiteley, and it has now become a favourite spot amongst those in the know.

Dock at the wharf, pack your picnic basket with your favourite snacks and take in some of Sydney’s best.

Oh, and don’t forget your phone… you don’t want to miss out on those perfect pics of Sydney Harbour and the garden’s sculptures and colourful fauna. It’s time to up your Instagram game!

Chowder Bay

Chowder Bay is one of Sydney’s prettiest spots to explore. Enjoy a quick swim or snorkel before docking at the wharf and exploring the waterfront’s historic buildings.

Enjoy a relaxed lunch with a super snazzy view of Sydney Harbour and Clifton Gardens Beach or take a bush walk along Bungaree Walkway. This track takes you past some pretty impressive historical military spots, including Gunners Barracks, The Landship and various tunnels, battlements and cannons. You’re sure to have a blast… hopefully not literally!

Milk Beach

No matter the time of year, Milk Beach is a true stunner.

Kick back and relax on your boat, while you take in the beauty of ritzy Vaucluse and, of course, beautiful Sydney Harbour.

Milk Beach offers the perfect backdrop for an onboard meal, too – we suggest a late lunch, so you can enjoy that priceless sunset.

The Basin

Tucked away along Pittwater is one of Sydney’s best kept secrets… The Basin.

This paradise wonderland is framed by gums and features a beautiful lagoon where you can enjoy a swim or paddleboard.

If you’re keen to hop off your boat, The Basin’s camping ground has BBQ facilities and plenty of picnic tables. You’ll probably meet a few locals, too: roos, wallabies, koalas and the resident lizard.

For those who enjoy a bush walk, The Basin Trail takes you through Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. It can get a little tricky at some points, so keep that in mind.

Nearby to The Basin are Great Mackerel Beach, Coasters Retreat and Currawong Beach, so you might want to check out those spots, as well.

Lady Martins Beach

This stunning, albeit quiet, little patch of sand and sea is only accessed by those in the know… and that’s not many.

Take a dip in the gentle waters and then hop back on board for lunch and a chilled glass of wine (or two!) while you gaze at the multi-million dollar views of Point Piper’s finest.

Make sure you add this list to your favourites and get out there and enjoy that good ol’ boat life! And don’t forget to let us know all about your amazing boating adventures on SMART Boating’s Facebook and Instagram.
